Terms & Conditions

The following terms and conditions will apply to all functions held at Sunset Boma.


1. As per the enclosed General Information, Sunset Boma is a private function venue for the specific use of the client on a nominated day and time. Admission by pre-arranged guest list only. Minimum guest numbers apply as detailed herein.

2. A deposit of 50%, together with completed and signed booking request form must be received by Sunset Boma in order to secure a function date.

3. The full outstanding balance and final guest numbers (including photographers, DJ's, guest speakers etc.) for the function must be received by Sunset Boma a minimum of 14 days prior to the function date. All bank deposits must be bank-cleared funds.

0% will be withheld of the initial 50% deposit, for any cancellation with or without a completed booking request form.
In the event that Sunset Boma does not for any reason, receive timeous full payment, Sunset Boma will reserve the right to cancel the booking, retain the deposit paid and re-book the function date to another party in order to recoup lost revenue.
No menu changes can be facilitated thereafter.
A 100% cancellation fee will be charged for any cancellation of less than 14 days prior to the function date. Any other refunds are at the sole discretion of Sunset Boma management.
R2500 Venue Hire surcharge will be charged on groups less than 40 people where applicable

5. Menu requirements at least 14 days prior to the function date including any special dietary requests.

Sunset Boma is a relaxed, bush style venue located within a residential and agricultural holding, bordering a wildlife nature area. Due to our consent use business license noise levels are to be of a reasonable level at all times.
No Karaoke type music or live bands are permitted at Sunset Boma.

The drinks/bar service and music will close at 22h30 on Fridays and Saturdays and at 21h30 on weekdays. Guests will be required to vacate the venue by 22h00 on weekdays and 23h00 on weekends. Regrettably, we cannot extend these hours of operation under any circumstances.

7. Sunset Boma is a no smoking venue. Guests are however welcome to smoke in the outside areas, but are requested to bear in mind that the Sunset Boma is a thatched building in a dry bush environment. No fireworks, explosive devices or firearms of any kind are permitted at Sunset Boma.

8. The client will be directly responsible for any breakages, loss or damage to the property, venue, buildings and furniture, including deliberate damage and/or theft of glassware, linen, crockery, cutlery and utensils, should the damages exceed the R1,000.00 deposit.

9. The client undertakes not to damage, scar or deface any part of the property, venue, buildings and furniture. Décor, props, displays and the like, may not be secured to any part of the venue, buildings or furniture by nails, rivets, staples, bolts or screws etc. Only cable ties, tape and string may be used for such purposes.

10. Candles may not be used, mounted or placed in any way that could cause a risk of fire. Candles must be placed in appropriate containers to prevent the candle wax from damaging the table linen and other surfaces.

11. Sunset Boma reserves the right to limit, suspend or terminate the serving of alcohol (as per the sole discretion of the Sunset Boma management) to any person/s, whom may have become intoxicated, abusive, destructive or violent due to excessive alcohol and/or drug consumption or any other cause. All alcohol is consumed entirely at the individual's own risk. NO private alcohol may be consumed from the boots of cars or coolerboxes.

12. Flower petals/bubbles or butterflies are welcome, however confetti and wedding rice are not permitted.

13. All the client's decorations and flower displays/set ups etc. are to be removed from the venue at the end of the function. Sunset Boma accepts no responsibility for any loss or damage to such displays and decorations. Such items that are not removed will unfortunately be disposed of.

14. No pets or animals, (except guide dogs) are permitted at Sunset Boma.

15. No guests are permitted to enter the private areas beyond the no entry signs.

16. All visitors to Sunset Boma are to be advised of the indemnity disclaimer set out in the General Information. Sunset Boma Investments cc, its members, agents and staff will not be responsible for any death, illness or injury suffered by any person, or loss, damage or theft of any person's property or personal belongings as a result of any cause whatsoever, including wilful conduct.

17. Sunset Boma will endeavour to facilitate a successful function, however in the event of any unforeseen circumstance or act of God that may arise beyond its control, Sunset Boma will reserve the right to cancel any function forthwith and without liability on its part.

18. We cannot light, and may have to extinguish the boma bon fire in windy conditions or when there is any other fire risk to the surrounding bush grass or thatched bomas.

19. In the event of any dispute arising from this agreement, both parties agree to resolve the dispute by means of arbitration only. The arbitration will be governed by the rules of The Arbitration Foundation Of South Africa. Any dispute must be declared in writing within 7 working days after the function date.
